I suck at blogging

Hey guys! Sorry for my lack of posts. This is a boring blog, and I acknowledge it. Today my mother informed me that over 2.7 million people have blogs. I don't know how accurate this fact is, but it seemed interesting. Now that Julie & Julia has been released (I saw it; okay, though Meryl Streep was fantastic.) the world seems suddenly interested in blogging. Huh.

So in the exciting world of Laura, not much has happened. My inexplicable coughing sickness lasted 9 or 10 days, the highlight being missing band camp due to a temperature of 103.6. A personal high, no less.

Band camp isn't as bad as I thought. When it started, I absolutely hated it. That whole first week was hell. I wanted to quit. My friend Jeremy quit after one day, citing "harassment" as his reason. (Not really. I think.) Now I have this really funny-looking tan where my legs are really dark and my feet are white. There's a definitive line, as well as a tan from my watch. I'll have to start wearing tank tops to get rid of my t-shirt tan. It's hilariously stupid.

At my summer camp, there's this thing called Tute, which is short for NFTY Institute. (NFTY being the North american Federation of Temple Youth.) And a lot of my friends went and had a fantabulous time. But I had band camp, which failed.

Yesterday I went to a bridal shower for a childhood babysitter/camp counselor. She's marrying a songleader from my summer camp. They're a wonderful couple, and I love them both to death. My mother was the one throwing the shower, so my sister and I were the unpaid help. People didn't really pay attention to us. We tested this theory by randomly dancing obnoxiously. No one noticed. Our lives are average. But we got cheesecake, so it was all good. Our hard work was worth it.

Today's biggest accomplishment was reading 3 chapters in The Odyssey. I was proud of myself.

I look at all the blogs I read (John Green, Hayley G Hoover, Kristina Horner, etc.) and I wish my life was that exciting. I mean I'm sure once school starts up I'll have more to talk about it and less time to write. But if anyone actually reads this, sorry for the lack of excitement. Thanks for sticking with me.

Awesome:
these desserts called "Whippets." I had something similar when I was in Israel. They're chocolate covered marshmallows with graham crackers on the bottom. Delicious.

Notsome- the weather. Hot humid weather + curly hair = mess.

hours spent at marching band: 80. seriously.

*cough* I'm sick.

Day 3 of Laura's Inexplicable Coughing/Dizziness/Freezingness Illness. Huzzah. Que Chevere. (/sarcasm/)

Yep. Today, 2 of my best friends Becca and Sarah are in town. They just moved to Georgia, so I'm not going to see them for 11 months (until camp). But no. I can't hang out with them because...I have to clean the basement. fail. but i really just sat around. because i'm too sick to be productive. Funsies.

Yeah...not a whole lot is going on. Sorry this is still boring.

Full days until band camp: 1.

FotD: I have the same birthday as Ian Hart, the guy who played Professor Quirrell. Also Angus T. Jones, who is Jake on 2.5 Men.

Best wishes,
Laura

P.S. 10 points to whoever knows where the title of this post came from. (Hint: it's a movie.)

Enter: The World of Blogging

I have a blog. Woot.

After failed attempts at LiveJournal, Tumblr, and even my blog on the Ning, I've decided to give blogging another shot. I mean...I still prefer the short easy things like Plurk or Twitter. I don't have to type out a full blog post. Because I have a boring life, and I don't do anything.

Starting next Monday, my life will consist of marching band. That's it. I know how fun it's supposed to be and all, but I'm going to miss an opportunity to hang out with all of my camp friends. But whatever. I made a committment. Ugh.

So yeah. I have a boring life, but I'll try to make this blog interesting. I don't really expect anyone to read it though.

DFTBA, Laura
